Sources said that Tamba was attacked by motorcycle-borne assailants in Islampura area of Lahore in Pakistan and was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.

 

Singh, 49, died of a heart attack at Jinnah Hospital Lahore on the night of May 2, 2013, after being in a coma for nearly a week, inside the high-security Kot Lakhpat Jail, including Tamba. Died after being brutally attacked by prisoners.

 

Sarfraz Javed’s son Tamba was born in Lahore in 1979 and was a close associate of the Lashkar-e-Taiba founder who congratulated him for killing Singh.

 

Tamba, popularly known as the ‘Original Don of Lahore’, was part of the ‘Turkenwala Gang’ and was involved in property trading and drug smuggling.

 

He was recently involved in a clash with Amir Balaj Tipu, a member of the gang who was later killed during a wedding ceremony in Lahore.

 

A group of Pakistani prisoners attacked Singh with bricks and iron rods. Singh was allegedly found guilty of involvement in several bomb blasts in Pakistan’s Punjab province in 1990 and sentenced to death.

 

Singh’s family maintained that he was a victim of mistaken identity and had inadvertently wandered across the border. His sister Dalbir Kaur had fought a long battle for her release from the neighboring country, but was unsuccessful. He died in 2022 in Amritsar.

 

According to reports from Tamba’s family, two men came to their house on a motorcycle and shot him on the top floor.

 

Reports said Tamba had four bullet wounds on his body, two each in the chest and legs, adding that while one of the gunmen was wearing a helmet, the other had a mask on his face and they both shot him. After firing, they fled from the spot. .

 

Sources said that Tamba was enjoying all the facilities inside the jail, including mobile phones, during his imprisonment for his criminal activities. (CNI)
