Srinagar: The Enforcement Wing of the Lake Conservation & Management Authority (LCMA) undertook a series of demolition drives against illegal constructions in Srinagar during the recent Lok Sabha elections. With the police busy with election duty, the LCMA seized the opportunity to target unauthorized constructions.

The Enforcement Wing has a history of successful work in the area, earning praise from locals for its efforts. In addition to the demolitions, legal action was also initiated against violators.

The LCMA urges residents within its jurisdiction to refrain from illegal construction activities. It’s important to note that recent High Court directives permit repairs and even reconstruction within 200 meters of Dal and Nigeen lakes, and some commercial activities are allowed under the new master plan.

However, proper permissions are mandatory before undertaking any construction work.

Residents are advised to obtain building permission from the competent authority to avoid strict action.

The LCMA seeks cooperation from the public in its enforcement efforts.CNI
