Bizarre! Poonch blaze gutts eight houses as empty fire tenders reach the spot


Poonch: Eight residential houses, five belonging to as many brothers, were gutted in a fire incident at Dogrian, Bufliaz area of Surankote in Poonch district on Monday.

Reports reaching CNI said that the fire erupted at around 1:00 am and within no time engulfed the adjoining houses.

The residential houses which were gutted completely include that of Waliyat Khan, Adalat Khan, Adayat Khan, Ayoib Khan and Younis Khan sons of Lal Hussain and Mohd Sharief Khan, Qayoom Khan, Marouf Khan sons of Khadam Hussain Khan.

The goods purchased by the Waliyat Khan for the wedding of her daughter were also gutted in the fire, the family said.

The local residents alleged that after being informed well in time, the fire tenders reached the spot but with almost no water to douse off the flames. Waliyat said that soon after the fire erupted, they had contacted fire tenders.

SDM Surankote, Mohd Saleem Qureshi told CNI that he has ordered an inquiry into the allegations made by the locals.

“If the allegations turned true, appropriate action will be taken against the concerned employees of the fire and emergency department,” he said.
