“We are Forced to Burry our loved ones in Watery Graveyard”: Locals of Sopore Village allege

Srinagar, 28 Jan (CNI): The Graveyard, Masjid and other structures are under water as the Flood Channel starting from Rashidabad to Malpora flowing through the Sempora village of Dangerpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district blocked from many years.

Reports reaching news agency-Current News of India (CNI) said that a flood channel has been blocked from years due to which the water entered into the graveyard and Courtyard of Masjid Sharif, which causes immense problems to locals of Sempora Dangerpora Sopore.

The locals said that although the Rural Development Department (RDD) has started work at various spots but left it incomplete, alleging that they have many times brought it into the consideration of Rural development department, I&FC and other officials but no concrete step was taken on ground.

“When we dig any grave, there is about 2-3 feet water accumulating, how we will burry our loved ones there; no one is listening to our pleas, we are being neglected and unheard”. A local resident said to CNI.

He further alleged that, “We are forced to burry our loved ones in watery graveyard as administration failed to clear the blocked channel”.

Meanwhile, when CNI correspondent Contacted with concerned BDO Dangerpora, he said that ” I will look into the matter and will send concerned VLW there for visit at an earliest “.(CNI)
