Purnima Sharma, spokesperson, J&K BJP, highlighted the achievements of Modi government in improving the socio-economic standing of the women in the society.

Purnima Sharma accompanied by Anju Dogra, Secretary, J&K BJP and Neha Mahajan, General Secretary, BJP Mahila Morcha was addressing a press conference at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

While addressing the press conference, Purnima Sharma recounted on the key achievements of the Modi Government in empowering women, including the recent milestone of 33% political reservation in which Historic legislation passed to reserve one-third of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, ensuring greater representation and participation in decision-making.

Improved Gender Ratio, in which Sex ratio at birth increased from 918 to 933, reflecting successful efforts in combating gender discrimination.

She laid emphasis on the Enhanced Education Opportunities in which nearly half of the admissions in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields are women. Sainik Schools and NDA opened for girls, broadening career prospects in defense services.

She said that the women have a Greater Role in Armed Forces with the Permanent Commissioning of women in the Armed Forces, allowing them to serve in commanding roles.

She counted the Modi government’s Support for Women Entrepreneurs in which more than 48% of startups have at least one woman director, boosting women’s leadership in business. Around 70% of Mudra Yojana beneficiaries are women, promoting financial independence.

Empowerment of Rural Women is ensured with over 10 crore rural women mobilized through Self-Help Groups, enhancing livelihood opportunities.

Purnima Sharma said that the Maternity Benefits are improved with the Maternity leave extended from 12 to 26 weeks, supporting working mothers. 3.7 crore beneficiaries received ₹16,500 crore under PM Matru Vandana Yojana.

Housing and Infrastructure Support in which 74% of PM Awas Yojana homes are owned by women, ensuring security and ownership. More than 10 crore kitchens equipped with Ujjwala gas connections for cleaner cooking solutions. Over 15 crore households provided with ‘Nal se Jal’ (tap water) connections. About 12 crore toilets constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission, enhancing sanitation and dignity for women.

She also talked about the Legal and Social Reforms with the Abolition of Triple Talaq, safeguarding the rights of Muslim women. Muslim women allowed to travel alone for Haj, promoting freedom and independence.

These initiatives reflect the Modi Government’s unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment, ensuring their rightful place in politics, education, entrepreneurship, and society at large, she said.
