criticized the government for failing to address the core issues faced by dealers in Punjab. “We tried to reach out to officials in Punjab, but no one is ready to listen to us. Our transporters and dealers are facing extortion, threats, and harassment on highways. The authorities have turned a blind eye,” Ganai said.Dealers claim that despite paying all taxes and duties, they are

being arbitrarily stopped and extorted while transporting livestock from Punjab to Kashmir. “We are not asking for favors, just a fair and safe system to carry out our trade,” a protesting dealer said.The timing of the strike has compounded worries as Kashmir’s wedding
