In a strong show of commitment to grassroots sports development, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, Ms. Nuzhat Gul, carried out a comprehensive inspection of multiple sports facilities across Srinagar, reaffirming the government’s mission to build a robust and inclusive sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.

Joined by the Executive Engineer of the Construction Division Kashmir and other senior officials, Ms. Gul began her visit at the Gassu Hazratbal football field, where a FIFA-approved synthetic turf is nearing completion. Emphasizing timely execution, she directed that remaining work be completed without delay to open the ground to aspiring athletes.

At Shaheed-i-Millat Playfield in Lal Bazar, the Secretary reviewed the development blueprint for the current year and ensured the pace of work aligns with expectations. Her next stop was Gani Memorial Stadium in Rajouri Kadal, where she personally interacted with young cricketers and local players, patiently hearing their concerns and aspirations. Her assurance to improve sports facilities in Srinagar’s downtown area drew praise from the community, marking a hopeful step toward inclusive sports promotion.

The momentum continued at Chinkral Mohalla Stadium, Habbakadal, where Ms. Gul called for accelerated work to allow early access for youth and sports lovers. At the final stop, KNS Stadium in Radpora, Kaniyar, she assessed infrastructure needs, particularly with regard to the growing number of daily athletes who use the venue.

During her visit, Ms. Gul underlined the Sports Council’s unwavering focus on building modern, well-equipped sports arenas in every corner of the UT. She credited the vision and leadership of Hon’ble Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Shri Satish Sharma, for paving the way for transformative change in the sporting landscape.

“Our mission is to empower talent at the grassroots level, ensuring that no athlete is left behind,” Ms. Gul stated. “With both local and national-level tournaments in the pipeline, we are shaping a future where sports become a way of life for the youth of J&K.”
