Srinagar 23 Jan : In the aftermath of a tragic fire incident, which claimed the life of a 26-year-old man in north Kashmir Baramulla district’s Khambiyar Pattan area, locals and netizens alike have demanded stern action against Fire Station Wanigam for its alleged negligence and delay in reaching the spot of incident.

As per the news agency CNI, locals said that the fire tender from Fire Station Wanigam arrived very late at the incident site after the breaking out of the fire, resulting in death of a man, Adil Ramzan Dar, who was sleeping in his room of the house which was engulfed by the fire, purportedly spreading from a fault in an electric blanket used by the deceased person.

“The fire tender from Fire Station Wanigam did not reach immediately to the spot of the incident after the flames engulfed the house. If the firefighters would have arrived a bit earlier, maybe the life of the youth could have been saved,” said the locals.

They also alleged that they had informed the Fire Service Department in time “but unfortunately the firefighters turned up late despite calling them several times.”

Locals also demanded an impartial investigation and suspension of irresponsible employees of the Fire and Emergency Services for their “carelessness” and “delay”.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla along with the concerned ADC, SDM and Tehsildar Pattan also visited the site and assured a transparent investigation into the incident.

It has been learnt that the Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Services has constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the allegations levelled against the Fire Station Wanigam’s employees and directed to submit a report within fifteen days. (CNI) Current News of India
