PDP to pay tribute to July 13, 1931 martyrs

Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership at a meeting hasunanimously resolved to visit the revered Mazar-e-Shuhada on July 13 to pay tribute to the 1931 Martyrs, says a report.Addressing the gathering, PDP vice president Sartaj Madni underscored the deep historical significance of the day, calling it a

reminder of the people’s struggle against tyranny and injustice. Mohammad Khursheed Alam general secretary of the party while speaking in the meeting said, “The sacrifices made on July 13, 1931, laid the foundation of the political consciousness in Jammu and Kashmir.

While the present dispensation may have erased the day as an official holiday, they cannot erase the truth or the history it represents “Senior leader Gh Nabi Lone reaffirmed that no official order can diminish the legacy of the martyrs or the ideals for which they stood.

“Their sacrifices, remain etched in the collective memory of the people and will continue to inspire future generations,” PDP in a statement said.

The party also criticized the continued attempts to dilute Jammu and Kashmir’s unique political and historical identity, asserting that suppressing symbols of collective memory will only deepen the people’s resolve to protect their legacy.

The PDP reiterated its commitment to democratic values, dignity, and historical truth, adding that honoring July 13 is not just a matter of tradition, but a moral obligation owed to those who laid down their lives for justice and representation.
