On 05.10.2023 an information from the reliable sources was received at Police Post Khari under the Jurisdiction of Police Station Banihal that some persons have illegally cut the forest wood from Forest Compartment 29 of Mahoo Forest area and after loading the wood logs in two different vehicles, are trying to take away the same towards Kashmir.
In a statement issued here that on the receipt of this information Case FIR No 244/2023 u/s 379 IPC, 26 Forest Act registered at Police Station Banihal.
Police Party of Police Post Khari, act swiftly and immediately rushed to the spot and after hectic efforts intercepted two vehicles bearing Registration Nos JK03K 9985, JK03H 7860 and recovered 250 Logs of Forest wood.
The occupants travelling in the above said vehicles disclosed their identities as 1.Ashiq Hussain Mantoo son of Mohd.Ayoub Mantoo resident of Waltingoo Kund,Kulgam 2.Abdual Rashid Paray son of Mohd Akbar Paray resident of Kulgam 3.Mudassir Nazir Bhat son of Nazir Ahmed Bhat resident of Anantnag 4.Sajad Ahmed Mir son of Ghulam Nabi Mir resident of Kulgam.
Both the above mentioned vehicles, wood Logs 250 Nos seized and all 04 accused persons named above were arrested.-
