Union Transport Minister will be on a Two-Day visit to J&K and Ladakh on April 10 and 11
Srinagar, 27 March (CNI): Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has approved Rs 1973 crore for the ongoing work on the Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri highway for the renovation and repair of roads and construction of new highways in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to News-agency Current News of India (CNI), ahead of his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir in April, Union Minister for Roads, Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari has approved Rs 1,973 crore for works on the Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri National Highway.
Sources said that Gadkari is scheduled to visit the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on April 10 and 11 to inspect the work in Zojila and Banihal. Ahead of his visit, the Roads and Highways Minister inaugurated the two-lane Baramulla Green on the Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri national highway. He also released Rs 980.21 crore for the Pattan Greenfield Bypass on Srinagar, Baramulla-Uri National Highway 01.
It is learned that during his two-day visit to Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, the Union Minister will visit the Zojila Tunnel under construction on the Srinagar-Kargil National Highway and inspect the ongoing work on April 10.
The deadline for the Srinagar construction is 2026, but there are indications that it may be completed earlier and the construction of the Zojila tunnel will connect the Union Territory of Ladakh by road throughout the year.
Sources said that On April 11, Gadkari is likely to announce the commencement of work on more highways and roads in Jammu and Kashmir during his two-day visit. He will also inaugurate some of the works that have been completed. Latest Jammu Kashmir news by (CNI)
