Srinagar’s famous tulip garden opens for visitors 1.7 million tulips of new varieties await visitors amidst natural splendor

Srinagar, March 23: (CNI) The Tulip Garden of Kashmir, one of the largest gardens in Asia, was officially opened to the public on Saturday.

 

As per news agency Current News Of India CNI this year the garden will bloom with 1.7 lakh flowers of different varieties, including five new flower varieties this year.

 

An official of the floriculture department said that this year they have added five new varieties of flowers and visitors will see 1.7 million tulips in the garden.

 

He said that the moment has come when the tulip garden has been opened to the public. National and international tourists visit the garden to admire the beauty of tulips.

 

As locals and tourists flocked to catch a glimpse of the popular garden on the opening day, officials said the garden would be fully open in the coming days.

 

The beautiful garden, located on the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range and on the banks of the magnificent Dal Lake – has a variety of red, yellow and pink early- and late-blooming tulip bulbs.

 

Notably, ahead of the inauguration of the garden this week, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Budhuri called a meeting to review the arrangements for visitors at Asia’s largest tulip garden.

 

The meeting was attended by Director Floriculture, SSP Traffic Srinagar, Joint Commissioner SMC, Tourism Department and officials of Srinagar Smart City Limited.

 

In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held regarding the opening of the garden for visitors, traffic management, parking space, cleanliness, cleaning campaign, repairing potholes, online ticketing and other arrangements.(CNI)
