There is growing concern among nationalist forces in general and the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community in particular over the recent activities unfolding in the Kashmir Valley over the past week. Be it the so-called tourism drives, dramatic calls to ban wine shops, or superficial temple events and street performances , all appear to be part of a calculated campaign to “win the hearts” of the Muslim majority, show normalcy in valley and create a misleading impression of reconciliation with Kashmiri Pandits.
These theatrics, lacking substance and sincerity, are deeply disturbing. It is imperative that such developments be discussed and addressed with utmost seriousness, realism, and national responsibility, not with illusions or PR stunt.
Let us begin with the hard truth that
Kashmir is not a problem that can be solved with public shows, tourism campaigns, or symbolic alcohol bans. The real crisis in Kashmir is ideological and political deeply rooted in separatism, radicalization, and the systematic neglect of its original inhabitants, the Kashmiri Pandits.
For 35 long years, Kashmiri Pandits have lived in exile uprooted from their ancestral land, stripped of justice, dignity, and meaningful rehabilitation. Not a single town, village, or mohalla in the Valley today offers them safe, free, and dignified return. Yet, some individuals and groups like the so-called ” Mawa propaganda outfit “are being paraded as “representatives” of reconciliation. What reconciliation are we talking about when our homes were looted, our lands grabbed, community youth killed and these activists dare not even whisper a word about it?
To believe that small symbolic yatras,AC bus trips, statements about alcohol bans, or theatrical temple &street dramas can transform the deep-seated anti-India and anti-Hindu sentiment in the Valley is not only childish , it is dangerously delusional. Such acts are rightly seen as gimmicks, not genuine efforts for peace. The undeniable reality remains:
,”Even today, over 99% of Kashmir’s Muslim-majority population has not welcomed the Pandits back, nor have they condemned the 1990 genocide with sincerity and courage.”
The most painful and disappointing part is that even at present the RSS , once considered a steadfast supporter of truth and justice for Kashmiri Pandits, now appears either confused or misled by opportunists on the ground. One must ask bluntly: Is the RSS leadership being systematically fed false narratives? Or is it simply too eager to project a manufactured sense of “normalcy” by promoting such hollow spectacles?
Let it be clearly and firmly stated that
whether it is the any political party, government agencies, sponsored groups, or Kashmir-based double-faced politicians,or RSS etc any attempt to manipulate the situation or paint a false picture of harmony in Kashmir will fail unless and until the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community gives its clear and final stamp of approval.
The Government of India knows well that the ultimate certificate of lasting peace in Kashmir cannot be issued by anyone but the Kashmiri Pandit community itself.
That is precisely why these staged efforts are enacted, carting a few handpicked Pandits in government buses to “reconciliation events” or managing shallow photo-ops using select power-hungry KP faces. But let this be made loud and clear that
Without justice, without truth, without restoration of dignity such shows are not healing gestures. They are insults.
Yes, Kashmiri Muslims are politically sharp and socially aware. Many are well-versed in the concept of Al-Taqayya—where outward friendliness may conceal deeper agendas. This is not a blanket accusation, but a reality understood by all serious observers of Kashmir’s political theatre. No fake bonding or cosmetic dialogue can cover up the harsh fact that the Valley continues to resist Indian nationalism and Hindu presence.
Rather than indulging in shallow,stage-managed experiments, what the nation must urgently focus on is:
1.Justice for displaced Pandits
2 Return of their illegally occupied homes and lands
3.Constitutional and political representation ,a share in Bureaucracy, part of decision making bodies and in nation building.
4 A credible, time-bound roadmap for dignified resettlement and full security .(Bill in parliament for One place settlement in valley)
Passage of genocide bill in parliament & other things.
Anything short of this is a betrayal of truth, of justice, and of the nation itself.
This message is a wake-up call to all , political parties, RSS, national leadership, concerned agencies, and Kashmir-centric political forces, theatrical & street actors and others that the ground realities in Kashmir will not change with optics, tokenism, or PR stunts. Only bold actions, truth-based policies, and unwavering respect for the pain and rights of Kashmiri Pandits will lead to genuine transformation.
We, therefore, appeal to all nationalists, patriots, and institutions across India,
don’t fall into the trap of managed spectacles.
Support truth.Support justice.
Support those who truly suffered, stood firm, and sacrificed everything for the unity and integrity of India, the victim Kashmiri Pandits..
