The Jal Shakti department has come under fire from thousands of residents in the Jawalapora hamlet in the Budgam district of Central Kashmir after its line employees cut off the village’s water supply. The area consists of more than 600 homes.

The residents said that the department was using an excuse that they had no choice but to stop the water supply since the R&B department would not permit them to open the road for the installation of new pipes. The villagers said that since the village is being supplied through the lift support system the argument of the line staff of the department does not hold any ground.

They have urged the Jal Shakti department’s higher-ups to visit the village directly, evaluate the situation, and then issue directives for the village to have continuous water delivery in the meantime.
