Bhartiya Janta Party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Union government’s unwavering commitment to farmers. Chugh noted that the government has assured both the purchase of grains from farmers and the creation of necessary storage space to address the challenges currently faced in Punjab. He highlighted the priority given to Punjab for grain evacuation and the directive issued to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to take immediate action if storage space is unavailable.
Chugh further stated that the significant increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy over the past decade is a testament to the Modi government’s dedication to improving farmers’ livelihoods. In 2013-2014, the MSP for A-grade paddy was Rs 1,345, and for common grade, it was Rs 1,310. Today, the MSP has risen to Rs 2,300, reflecting the government’s commitment to ensuring fair prices for farmers.
Expressing his gratitude,
Chugh lauded Prime Minister Modi and his government for their continued efforts to support the farmers of Punjab.
“The government’s proactive measures and unwavering support in safeguarding the interests of our farmers and ensuring their financial well-being underscore the commitment to resolving farmers’ issues and upholding their welfare,” Chugh said.
He also urged the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, to engage with the concerned authorities and intensify procurement efforts. Chugh reiterated that the Modi government stands firmly with the farmers of Punjab, assuring that all efforts will be made to fulfill commitments toward resolving the situation.
