Poonch, May (CNI) – A high-level delegation of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) comprising MP Derek O’Brien, MP Md. Nadimul Haque, West Bengal Minister Manas Ranjan Bhunia, MP Sagarika Ghose, MP Mamata Bala Thakur, visited Jamia Zia Ul Uloom, a prominent religious and educational institution in Poonch, to express their condolences and show solidarity in the aftermath of recent cross-border shelling.
The delegation met with Naib Mohtamim of Jamia Zia Ul Uloom, Hazrat Maulana Sayeed A. Habib, and offered heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of Qari Iqbal, a respected teacher at the institution, who tragically lost his life during the shelling along the Line of Control (LoC).
The visiting leaders expressed deep sorrow over the loss and acknowledged the vital role played by the Jamia in serving the educational and spiritual needs of the community, particularly in times of crisis. They assured the Jamia administration of their full support and solidarity with the people of Poonch.
Maulana Sayeed A. Habib thanked the delegation for their visit and compassion, stating that such gestures bring comfort and strength to grieving communities. He reaffirmed the Jamia’s commitment to continue its educational mission despite the difficult circumstances.
The visit concluded with a special prayer (du’a) for the departed soul of Qari Iqbal and for lasting peace and stability in the region.
