Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority, stated today that various agencies should work together to achieve the constitutional goal of equal access to justice for all, particularly the marginalised and vulnerable segments of society.

He was speaking at the District Legal Services Authority Leh’s Mega Legal Awareness Camp, which was held nearby at the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies in Choglamsar.

Justice Atul Sreedharan, Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Patron-in-Chief Ladakh Legal Services Authority, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh, and Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Ladakh, were in attendance.

Justice Kaul stated in his inaugural speech that “legal awareness” refers to the capacity to comprehend words used in a legal context, draw conclusions from them, and then apply those conclusions to take action. He also stated that “different organs/agencies should strive to achieve the constitutional objective of access to justice for all, particularly the marginalised and vulnerable section of the society.”

The audience was educated by Justice N Kotiswar Singh on the origins, makeup, and function of legal services institutions. He also provided insight into the development of various Legal Service Institution functionaries and how, with the cooperation and involvement of all stakeholders, the aspirations and values stated in the preamble of our constitution might be realised.

Dr. Pawan Kotwal provided an overview of the judicial and legal services institutions’ infrastructure development projects in Ladakh and said that UT Ladakh is dedicated to provide all assistance feasible to enhance them.

While Spalzes Angmo, Member Secretary of the Ladakh Legal Services Authority, oversaw the programme, Justice Atul Sreedharan gave the vote of gratitude.

On this occasion, Yudvender Singh, Director of NALSA, M. K. Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Anoop Sharma, Registrar of the IT High Court, Yash Pal Sharma, Principal District & Sessions Judge & Leh, Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh, Stanzin Chosphel, Professor Rajesh Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhdeva, ASP Leh.

By erecting stalls at the program’s location, all of Leh’s departments and banks promoted their advantageous programmes and locally produced goods. Numerous beneficiaries received advantages like battery-operated cycles, wheelchairs, and sanction letters for subsidised loans over the course of the scheme.
