Relations with Beijing Can’t be normalized until there is peace in Border areas Srinagar, 28 March (CNI) : Army Chief General Manoj Pandey announced that we have enough reserves to counter the growing conflict with China on the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh and the army deployed there is ready to deal with any emergency situation, Delhi has repeatedly said that its relations with Beijing cannot return to normal unless there is peace in the border areas, he said. General Manoj Pandey said that the dialogue process is going on between the two countries at the political and diplomatic level and they are being used in the best way to ensure peace and stability. According to the Monitoring Desk of News-agency Current News of India (CNI) , while speaking on the occasion of a ceremony held at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey said “I think the most important aspect of our operational environment is our legacy challenges of unresolved and disputed borders.” Disputes and disputed claims to the territory remain due to differing perceptions of the alignment of the Line of Actual Control with China, which remains a source of tension. However, the army chief said that India has sufficient reserves and is ready to deal with any emergency, adding that China has acquired significant capabilities to sustain military operations in addition to mobilizing the army and the long-pending border issue cannot be separated from the bilateral relations between Asia’s two largest countries. General Pandey said that Chinese attempts to encroach across the LAC in violation of past agreements remain a cause of concern for India, but the preparedness of the army is at a high level and they are ready to give a full response to any action. Pandey further said that India-China border areas need to be closely monitored as vulnerabilities can lead to wider conflict and New Delhi has repeatedly said that its relations with Beijing cannot return to normal unless there is peace in the border areas. General Pandey said that the series of meetings between the two countries at political, diplomatic and military levels are ongoing and it is being used in the best way to ensure peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control. He said that the Indian Army’s strategic orientation and long-term capability development is focused on the northern border, Indian Army has stepped up its efforts to meet operationally critical logistical requirements, particularly roads in forward areas, adding that Army is working with all agencies in forward areas to upgrade infrastructure.(CNI)
