Jammu, cni: In a spiritually enriching and inspiring gathering, the Ladies Jain Satsang Utsav was organized with great devotion at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. The event brought together women from the Jain community to reflect on Jain principles of non-violence, compassion, and empowerment, while also celebrating the progress made in women’s development under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Divya Jain, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) District Vice President, Jammu South, addressed the august assembly and emphasized that women’s empowerment in Jainism remains safe and strengthened under the Modi-led Central Government. She highlighted how the government’s policies align with the timeless values of Jainism, promoting dignity, self-reliance, and equality for women across all sections of society.
Enumerating the remarkable achievements of the BJP-led government over the last 12 years, Smt. Divya Jain stated, “There was a time when governments merely spoke about uplifting women. Now, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India boldly declares that if the nation is to rise, women’s development is essential. The shift from women’s development to women-led development has been the hallmark of this era.”
She particularly spotlighted the transformative impact of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), one of the flagship initiatives of the Modi Government. Divya Jain informed the gathering that more than 56 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened nationwide, with a significant majority—approximately 56%—held by women beneficiaries. This milestone reflects the government’s topmost priority of ensuring financial inclusion and independence for women, especially in rural and semi-urban areas where over 67% of these accounts are held.
Divya Jain further elaborated on the broader spectrum of women-centric initiatives under the Modi government, including schemes like Ujjwala Yojana for smoke-free kitchens, Mudra Yojana providing collateral-free loans (with a large share going to women entrepreneurs), Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to improve the child sex ratio and promote girls’ education, and extended maternity benefits.
The event resonated deeply with the audience, as the principles of Jainism—emphasizing equality, ethical living, and upliftment—found strong echoes in the government’s commitment to Nari Shakti. The gathering reflected on how such policies enable women to lead meaningful lives aligned with spiritual and societal values.
In a heartfelt moment of recognition, the women participants, including Mahavir Jain Mahila President Meenakshi Jain along with her team, felicitated Divya Jain for her well-deserved nomination as Vice President of BJP District Jammu South. This honor was celebrated as a testament to her dedication to public service, women’s causes, and community welfare.
