The 5th Battalion of the Rajput Regiment marked its glorious 200th anniversary celebrations with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony and an interaction with veterans at Pargwal. The event was graced by Maj Gen S.S. Jakhar (Retired) and Col Dahiya, who paid tribute to the regimentโs rich history and sacrifices.
A key highlight of the commemoration was the remembrance of Late Captain Sanjeev Dahiya, a gallant officer who made the supreme sacrifice during Operation Vijay in 1999. In his honour, wreaths were laid, and prayers were offered as a mark of gratitude for his valour and dedication to the nation.
During the interaction with veterans, the senior officers engaged with ex-servicemen and war heroes, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the nation. The discussions reflected on the legacy of 5 RAJPUT, its distinguished service at Pargwal Sector during Op Vijay, Op Rakshak and Op Parakram between 1999-2003 and its continued commitment to upholding the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
The event reaffirmed the battalionโs enduring legacy of courage, sacrifice, and service to the nation. The event concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the ethos and honour of 5 RAJPUT.
