Baramulla, 08 Aug (CNI): Baramulla Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested 5 Drug smugglers arrested along with 440 grams of Contraband Poppy Straw, 182 grams of Poppy Powder & 370 grams of Charas like substance during naka checking at Salamdeedar Babareshi & Solinda Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a press release issued here to News-agency Current News of India (CNI) reads at Salamdeedar Babareshi: Police under the supervision of *Sh Imtiaz Ahmed-JKPS, SDPO Tangmarg assisted by PSI Shoaib Mohammad IC PP Babareshi arrested Drug smuggler namely Imtiyaz Salim Khan S/O Sarandaz Khan R/O Tangwari Bala during naka checking at Salamdeedar Babareshi who was coming on a motorcycle bearing registration number JK05K-1768 from Kalantra towards Salamdeedar Babareshi and after noticing the police party tried to flee away but was apprehended tactfully and was taken into custody immediately.
During his search of the carrying bag 440 grams of contraband Poppy Straw & 182 grams of Poppy Powder-like substance was recovered from his possession. The motorcycle was also seized on spot.
At Solinda Tangmarg:
Police under the supervision of Sh Imtiaz Ahmed-JKPS, SDPO Tangmarg assisted by Inspr Tawseef Habib SHO PS Tangmarg arrested Drug smugglers namely Irshad Ahmad Ganie S/O Ab Jabbar, Dawood Ahmad Sofi S/O Gh Hassan, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat S/O Gh Ahmad Bhat & Suhail Ahmad Sofi S/O Gh Hassan all residents of Solinda Tangmarg during naka checking at Solinda Tangmarg who were coming in a vehicle Alto bearing registration number JK05K-5490 towards Solinda Tangmarg and after noticing the police party they tried to flee away but were apprehended tactfully and were taken into custody immediately.
During a search of the vehicle, 370 grams of contraband Charas like substance was recovered from their possession. The Vehicle Alto was also seized on spot.
Cases under NDPS Act registered in Police Station Tangmarg*and investigations set in motion.
General People of the area hailed the efforts of Baramulla Police and showed their willingness to support police to eradicate menace of drugs from the society which is the real sign of Police Public relationship.(CNI)
