KTMF/JKBC/CTMFG resents SMC/SDA issuance of tax & other fees notices with excessive rates. Traders not to accept further as reportedly increase in trade licence fee, Sanitation fee & Other fees.

SMC and SDA should refrain from increasing licence fee to save traders from further troubles.

 

Srinagar : General Secretary (Org) Kashmir Traders And Manufacturers Federation(KTMF),President Jammu And Kashmir Business Confederation(JKBC) & Chairman City Traders And Manufacturers Federation/Guild (CTMFG) Mohammad Altaf Dar (Rajbagh) has slammed the issuance of tax notices including Sanitation Fees,Licence Fees Etc to business community with excessive rates by Srinagar Municipal Corporation department and termed it as anti-business and against the interest of traders’ community. The reservations were conveyed by a group of traders in a meeting with the Mohammad Altaf Dar (Rajbagh)here at the Office on Friday. He said the move will create mistrust between government,SMC and traders, which may also create difficulties to SMC, to increase its revenue-base. Mohammad Altaf Dar said that the traders will protest the imposition of excessive new taxes & increase in fees ie sanitation,licence etc. Whereas, Mohammad Altaf Dar added as reportedly the Srinagar Municipal Corporation department/Srinagar Development Authority had issued notices to business community regarding taxes with exorbitant rates ie fees. He alleged as reportedly the business community is being harassed through various tactics by the officials of various government departments to enhance revenue-base in the which was tantamount to create a gulf between the government, SMC and traders, and demanded to take stern legal action against the issuance of tax notices to businessmen, he urged.

 

Mohammad Altaf Dar (Rajbagh) further said that Srinagar Municipal Corporation didn’t take the relevant stakeholders before artificial and unilateral increase in rates of taxes & fees which is completely unjust with business community and was unacceptable to them. He also said the Srinagar Municipal Corporation move will make difficulties to meet the revenue-collection target. Mohammad Altaf Dar said that SMC & SDA has enough funds, but no development work has been done in market for the last ten years due to which the condition of infrastructure in markets has deteriorated.

 

Mohammad Altaf Dar said that street lights in markets were not functioning while footpaths are broken.

 

He said that sanitation and sewerage system were also not performing well due to which markets were presenting filthy look.

 

He appealed to Commissioner SMC/VC SDA to pay urgent attention towards development works in markets in the whole Srinagar city and it’s extended areas and allocate funds for this purpose.

 

Mohammad Altaf Dar (Rajbagh) said that conditions for business were not conducive; therefore,increasing Sanitation,Licence fee & other fees should not be imposed

 

He said that Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Srinagar Development Authority had tried to impose increase sanitation fee,Licence Fees & other fees which is not acceptable to traders. Mohammad Altaf Dar (Rajbagh) called upon the government/LG Administration to take measures to bring new people under the tax & fees net instead of overburden the existing taxpayers with imposition of additional levies on them.
