Srinagar, cni :Doctors at SMHS Hospital Srinagar have officially ended their strike and resumed full medical duties following a brief protest sparked by the alleged assault on a fellow doctor by the relative of a deceased patient.
The protest began after the death of Javid Ahmed, who reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest while under treatment.
According to reports, his brother-in-law allegedly assaulted a doctor on duty, leading to widespread anger among junior doctors and medical staff.In response, junior doctors staged a symbolic strike, demanding justice and enhanced security.
However, despite the protest, senior doctors and faculty members continued to perform their duties diligently, ensuring that patient careespecially in emergency and critical departments was not compromised.Hospital administration especially Principal GMC Srinagar Dr Iffat Shah ,
Administrator GMC Mr Mohammad Ashraf Hakak (KAS )along with local police authorities, assured swift action against the accused and promised to strengthen safety protocols for healthcare workers. Following these assurances, the striking doctors decided to call off their protest.
The Jammu and Kashmir Doctors Coordination Committee (JKDCC) condemned the assault and urged authorities to treat such incidents with utmost seriousness.
