Gurez, cni:- The Indian Army celebrated the New Year with great enthusiasm and warmth alongside border children near the Line of Control in the snow-bound Gurez Valley of Bandipora district. Despite harsh winter conditions and heavy snowfall, the event was organised with joy and positivity at the Youth Centre, Bagtore. Indian Army soldiers, local residents, and children from nearby border villages actively participated in the celebrations.

The programme reflected the strong bond between the Army and the local population living in remote border areas. Soldiers interacted with children, distributed sweets, and shared New Year wishes, creating a cheerful and encouraging environment. Cultural programmes presented by local children added charm to the occasion, showcasing traditional songs and performances that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Gurez Valley.

While speaking to media persons, a local resident said, “Today we celebrated the New Year with the Indian Army’s Rana Battalion in a very peaceful and positive atmosphere. Such celebrations strengthen brotherhood and trust between the Army and local people. We prayed together for the progress, unity, and safety of our nation, and for peace in our border areas.”

Expressing his happiness, a local child said, “Celebrating the New Year with the Indian Army made this day very special for us. The soldiers encouraged us to focus on education and discipline and motivated us to work hard for our future. Even in this cold and snow-covered region, they brought warmth and happiness. We enjoyed the cultural programme, felt proud of our Army, and will remember this day for a long time.”cni
