Chenani,CNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared in a rally at Chenani, Udhampur, that terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has been “buried” and will not be allowed to resurface. Addressing the gathering on Wednesday, Shah promised a terror-free region under BJP’s leadership, while attacking the opposition alliance of National Conference (NC) and Congress for allegedly being sympathetic to Pakistan’s agenda.
Shah, who is actively campaigning ahead of the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, said, “The abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 was a historic step that fulfilled the dream of Syama Prasad Mukherjee. Today, Jammu and Kashmir stands strong, free of the shadow of Article 370 and terror.”
In a direct attack on the opposition, Shah referenced the Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, saying, “The NC-Congress alliance is now saying that Afzal Guru should not have been hanged. But the people of Jammu and Kashmir must decide: should he have been hanged or not?” He also accused the opposition of wanting to release stone-pelters and terrorists, claiming the government had ensured strict laws that prevent such acts of violence.
Further defending the government’s hardline stance on terror, Shah warned, “Whoever spreads terror in Jammu and Kashmir will meet their end at the gallows.” He assured the public that the BJP is committed to keeping the region free of both terrorism and separatist influences.
As per news agency Current News of India (CNI), Shah is set to address five more rallies across Udhampur, Kathua, and Jammu districts as part of the BJP’s campaign ahead of the third and final phase of elections scheduled for October 1.
The rally witnessed strong support from locals, with many praising the Union government’s steps toward securing peace in the region. As part of his address, Shah also outlined the developmental progress made under the BJP, citing infrastructural growth, improved security, and efforts to bring normalcy to the region post-Article 370’s abrogation.
The upcoming elections are seen as a crucial moment in the region’s political landscape, with the BJP positioning itself as the party that brought both peace and progress to Jammu and Kashmir. CNI
