The people of Dargam Pattan have accused the concerned officials of the food department of depriving the families living below poverty level of PHH ration cards.

They also alleged that the wealthy and influential families of the area have been provided with BPL/PHH cards, which is not deserved in any way.

According to CNI, the poor families of Dargam and other adjacent areas in Patan town of Baramulla district of North Kashmir have accused the relevant officers of the Food and Supplies Department, especially the TSO, of neglecting such families in the area.

By denying BPL and PH ration cards to those living in mud houses, makeshift tin sheds, BPL Ration cards have been provided to families in the area who are affluent.

Locals said that the department should conduct a survey in the area and bring such deserving families under the category of BPL.

However, TSO Pattan said that the reverification process in the area is going on.

In this regard, locals have appealed to the Director of the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department and Commissioner Secretary Jammu Kashmir to take this matter seriously and start an investigation.(CNI)
