Army Chief Inaugurates Command Hospital at Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir

JAMMU, (CNI): Army Chief General Manoj Pandey on Wednesday inaugurated a new hospital complex in North Command in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district through virtual mode.

The 650-bed hospital is spread over 60 acres and has been built at a cost of Rs 274 crore, a defense spokesman said. He added that it has provision for additional 200 beds.

“A new command hospital was inaugurated by COAS General Manoj Pandey through virtual mode in the presence of military and civil dignitaries,” the spokesperson said.

He added that the new complex includes “eight state-of-the-art operation theatres, a medical gas pipeline system, fire fighting system, a central air conditioning system and advanced medical treatment facilities”.

Environmental sustainability has been kept as a key focus area during the construction of the hospital, which has an effluent treatment plant and a central sewage treatment plant that ensures responsible water management through recycling, the spokesperson said. He added that apart from medical facilities, the complex includes accommodation for staff, training facilities and welfare facilities. (CNI)
