Jammu and Kashmir police refuted the allegations of Mehbooba Mufti about detention of PDP youth members who were holding candlelight vigil in the honour of 13th July martyrs.
SSP Srinagar Rakesh Balwal while talking to a local news agency GNS refuted the allegations, maintaining that a group of youth was taken into preventive detention only for an hour or so.
“There wasn’t any case registered and no arrests were made at all”, the police officer said, adding “Preventive detentions for short duration is a routine in case of protests in press enclave & also in other parts of srinagar, so as to avoid any law and order situation.”
Earlier, Mehbooba Mufti wrote on Twitter that “PDP youth members have been arrested & taken to Kothi bagh for taking out a candlelight vigil to pay tributes to the 13th July martyrs. Mother of democracy anyone?”(CNI)
