Baramulla Police celebrated International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at GDC Pattan; DIG NKR Presided over the occasion

Baramulla, 26 June (CNI): Baramulla Police celebrated International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Govt Degree College Pattan.

On the eve of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking being observed every year on 26th June, Baramulla Police organized awareness programmes, Elocutions, Painting competitions and Skit programme in run up to International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking at various places to generate awareness about drug abuse and its impact on the youth.

Today at Govt Degree College Pattan International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was celebrated in which Sh. Vivek Gupta-IPS DIG NKR Baramulla was chief guest.

SSP Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS, Principal GDC Pattan Ms. Tasleema Bano, SP Hqrs Baramulla Ms. Divya D-IPS, SDPO Pattan Sh. Mohammad Nawaz-JKPS, DySP DAR Baramulla Sh. Peerzada Aijaz Ahmad, SHO PS Pattan Inspr Sarjan Ahmad, SI Muzamil Ahmad IC Police Drug De-addiction Centre Baramulla, Sh Mohd Ashraf Counsellor PDDC Baramulla, Ms. Uzma Qureshi Social Worker PDDC Baramulla, Ms. Nusrat Lateef Pharmacist PDDC Baramulla, Ms Hafsa Maqbool Health worker PDDC Baramulla teaching and non-teaching staff of GDC Pattan, student of various schools in addition to students of GDC Pattan also participated in the event.

SSP Baramulla gave an elaborated view about the menace of drugs, its sources, causes, consequences, role of every members of society. While speaking on the event, SSP Baramulla said that the issue of drug abuse is a challenge before the country. It is the duty of all stakeholders to join in creating awareness about the illegal use of drugs and the measures to be taken to prevent this menace. He said that substance abuse has affected human rights in every aspect. He appreciated participants for being part of the event.

He also said that to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, public cooperation is necessary and stressed upon the participants to share information related to illicit drug supply in the area so that appropriate action under law may be taken.

DIG NKR Baramulla, Principal GDC Pattan, Sh Mohd Ashraf Counsellor PDDC Baramulla, Ms. Uzma Qureshi Social Worker PDDC Baramulla and other faculty members of GDC also highlighted the causes and consequences of drug abuse and assured their possible support and cooperation for a peaceful environment.
