Canada not aiming to provoke India:Justin Trudeau

Sep 20, 2023 CNI International Desk Toronto: The Canadian Prime Minister stated on Tuesday that he is not attempting to antagonise India in response to the increasing strain in diplomatic relations between Canada and India over the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

“The Indian government needs to treat this situation seriously. We are already doing it. IWe are not aiming to provoke or escalate, Trudeau stated,in the morning briefing before the House of Commons began, “

According to sources on Tuesday, security has been stepped up around the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi as a precaution.

On Monday, Trudeau accused the Indian government of being complicit in Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s murder on Indian soil in an urgent statement delivered in the Parliament.

On June 18, Nijjar was shot and killed in front of a Sikh cultural institution in Surrey, British Columbia.

According to Trudeau, convincing claims of a connection between the death of Khalistan Tiger Force commander Nijjar and operatives of the Indian government are being vigorously investigated by Canadian security agencies.
