Central leadership will decide to field candidates on 3 LS seats in Kashmir: J&K BJP chief

  JAMMU, (CNI): Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina said on Saturday that the party’s Central Election Committee will consider fielding candidates in three parliamentary constituencies of the Kashmir Valley.

 

He was replying to a question on speculation that the BJP would not field its candidates on these three seats and would give support to regional parties – Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Democratic Progressive Azad Party led by Sajjad Lone in Anantnag constituency. Vali People’s Conference. in Baramulla, and Altaf Bukhari’s own party in Srinagar.

 

“BJP has already announced its candidates for Udhampur and Jammu Lok Sabha seats (in the Jammu region) and we are winning both the seats with huge margins,” Raina said.

 

“There is a strong campaign in support of party candidates in both the regions (Jammu and Kashmir). BJP is strong in Jammu as well as in Kashmir, but it is final to contest the three seats of Anantnag, Srinagar and Baramulla in Kashmir. The decision will be taken under the leadership of the party’s CECB BJP president (JP Nadda), he said.

 

He refused to directly answer the question about being among the possible candidates for the Anantnag seat.

 

BJP has nominated Union Ministers Jitendra Singh and Jagal Kishore from Udhampur and Jammu respectively. Both Singh and Kishore are eyeing third consecutive wins from their respective seats.

 

Earlier, Raina led the party’s foundation day celebrations at the party office here.

 

Raina was accompanied by party leader Ashok Khajuria, former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta and other senior leaders hoisted the party flag.
