Chief Secretary J&K, Sh. Atal Dulloo, chaired a meeting of the UT Level Steering Committee (UTLSC) to consider administrative approval for 47 Water Supply Schemes (WSS) worth Rs 312.89 Cr for major towns in J&K.
The projects aim to make cities ‘water secure’ and provide functional water tap connections to all households. The UTLSC approved the projects, which will be tendered by August 15. The towns to benefit from these WSS include Srinagar, Jammu, and others.
The Commissioner Secretary, H&UDD, Ms Mandeep Kaur, presented details of the projects sanctioned under AMRUT 2.0. The UTLSC also approved a plan for Rs 35 Cr for engaging a Project Management Unit to monitor the scheme’s implementation.
The projects will be reviewed in the PRAGATI meetings chaired by the Prime Minister. The Chief Secretary emphasized timely completion and monitoring of the projects.
