Sep 18, 2023, Srinagar (CNI): The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has for the first time deployed companies of the Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA) into the Kashmiri jungles.

According to various reports, a couple of companies have been deployed in the forests of Kupwara district to deal with the infiltrators.

Reports claim that after being relocated from Bihar and Jharkhand in April of this year and receiving training in the Kashmiri jungles, CoBRA companies have now been deployed for the first time in the forests of the Kupwara district.

As reported by one of the leading news agencies,  CoBRA companies, which were previously deployed in several Nexal belts, will now begin participating in operations in Kashmir Valley.

CRPF CoBRA units are also known as “jungle warriors” since they conduct anti-militancy operations in challenging terrain covered in deep forests.

Relevant to mention here that two army officers and one police officer were recently killed in an ongoing encounter in Gadool area of Kokernag. It is reported that militants are hiding in the dense forests of Kokernag  due to which it is taking time to neutralise them. Few defense experts are of the opinion that CoBRA companies possess special skills to illuminate militants who are hiding in the jungles which fall in Gadool area of Kokernag.
