District & Sessions Judge Srinagar Convicts Accused in 2020’s Drug Trafficking Case

Srinagar : An accused person, who was arrested in 2020 along with ten boxes of banned drug Spasmo Proxyvon, has been convicted by the District and Sessions Judge Srinagar

As per the news agency CNI, persons in the knowhow of the development said that the accused Junaid Raina, a resident of Kaloosa Bandipora was arrested at a checkpoint by Parimpora Police along with banned drugs (10 boxes of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus) on 23-06-2020.

He was later found involved in drug trafficking and booked under the NDPS Act. “While convicting the accused, 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge Srinagar Gowhar Majeed Dallal said that the prosecution has successfully established its case against the accused beyond any shadow of a doubt,” they said.

Court said that the grounds raised by the Ld. counsel for the accused for acquittal of the accused during the course of arguments have not been proved by the Ld. counsel for the accused in light evidence nor has been able to extract anything.

“The accused has been convicted for the commission of an offence under section 8/21 NDPS Act. The court has sent the accused to custody in Central Jail Srinagar to serve the sentence,” they added.

Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Central Jail Srinagar was directed to produce the convict in person on the next date positively to hear him on the quantum of punishment/sentence. (CNI)
