Srinagar, 23 Aug (CNI) : Baramulla Police on Wednesday said that it have arrested a drug smuggler with 15 Kgs of Contraband Poppy Straw like substances during naka checking at Nehalpora Checksari Pattan.
In a Press release issued here to News-agency Current News of India, a police spokesperson said that Police under the supervision of Sh Mohd Nawaz-JKPS, SDPO Pattan assisted by Inspr Sarjan Ahmad SHO PS Pattan arrested Drug smuggler namely Sartaj Ahmad Mir S/O Gh Rasool Mir R/O Nehalpora Checksari Pattan during naka checking at Nehalpora Checksari Pattan, who was carrying bags on his shoulders from orchards at Nehalpora Pattan and after noticing the police party tried to flee away but was apprehended tactfully and was taken into custody immediately.
During the search of bag 14 Kgs of contraband Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from his possession.
Case under NDPS Act registered in Police Station Pattan and investigations set in motion.
