Srinagar, 01 May (CNI): Acting tough against social crimes, Police in Baramulla arrested eight gamblers and seized Rs 37, 610 stake money from their possession at Gantamulla Baramulla & Iqbal colony Pattan
At Gantamulla Baramulla: The police party of Police Station Sheeri received specific information regarding the presence of gamblers at Barrage Gantamulla.
Acting upon the information police party led by Inspr. Waseem Jahangir, SHO PS Sheeri rushed towards the spot.
On seeing the police party they tried to flee from the spot but we were apprehended tactfully.
The arrested gamblers were identified as Fayaz Ahmad Tantray S/O Lt. Abdul Jabbar R/O Kanthbagh Baramulla, Farooq Ahmad Najar S/O Lt. Abdul Ahad R/O Banglowbagh Baramulla, Abdul Majeed Teli S/O Late Ghulam Din Teli R/O Banglowbagh Baramulla, Shabir Ahmad S/O Gh Mohammad Wani R/O Khanpora Baramulla & Ghulam Nabi S/O Mohammad Rajab Najar R/O Banglowbagh Baramulla.
Playing cards along with stake money of ₹ 34,650/- was recovered from them.
At Iqbal Colony Pattan: The police party of Police Station Pattan received specific information regarding the presence of gamblers at Iqbal Colony Pattan.
Acting upon the information police party led by Inspr. Sarjan Ahmad, SHO PS Pattan rushed towards the spot.
On seeing the police party they tried to flee from the spot but we were apprehended tactfully.
The arrested gamblers were identified as Waseem Ahmad Khanday S/O Gh Mohd R/O Pattan, Altaf Ahmad Shah S/O Gh Ahmad Shah R/O Pattan & Ab Hamid Miyan S/O Ab Rashid Miyan R/O Pattan.
Playing cards along with stake money of ₹ 4,960/- was recovered from them.
Cases under sections of 13 Gambling Act were registered in Police Station Sheeri & Pattan and investigations were taken up.(CNI)
