Srinagar,17 April: (CNI) Fish stocks depleted due to lack of transparency in Jammu and Kashmir Fisheries Department Kashmir’s famed fish stocks are facing depletion due to a lack of transparency in the Fisheries Department’s practices.

A recent government circular highlights a move towards increased transparency in the Fisheries Department of J&K failed to applicable in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per government circular highlights a shift towards transparency in the Fisheries Department, following 15 years of opacity but still waiting for their transfer raised a question for government over the issue.

However, this transparency comes after a concerning 10-year period where no fisheries activities were undertaken in the department for CPO’ Chief Project Officer due which they are not doing their works on proper ways.

Officials from the fisheries department have urged the authorities to intervene and resolve the long-pending issue of the defunct Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).
The DPC, which is responsible for considering promotions for eligible employees, has been non-functional for the past 15 years.

This has caused stagnation in career progression for many deserving staff members.The lack of a DPC has created a demoralized work environment, with employees feeling stuck in their current positions without any hope of advancement. This situation has also led to a decline in motivation and productivity.

Meanwhile the fisheries department staff have appealed to the authorities to take immediate steps to revive the DPC and ensure timely promotions for eligible employees as soon as possible.(CNI)
