Jammu : Gayoor Foundation , an organization for promotion of art , culture and social justice, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages organized a special programme in memory of Syed Ghulam Rasool Gayoor Andrabi, a scholar poet of Urdu and Kashmiri , who fell to the bullets of militants , in Writers Club , Academy complex, Jammu.
The meeting started with a prayers and a minutes silence was observed for the peace of his soul and world which was followed by a nat e sharief written by G.R. Gayoor .
The function was presided over by former Vice Chancellor of Allahabad University and a historian Prof. Rattan Lal Hangloo and those shared presidium included eminent lawyer Syed Riyaz Khawa and Prof Shohaib Inayat Mallik HOD Music & Fine Arts , Jammu University .
Er. Shoukat Gayoor , Chairman of Gayor Foundation welcomed the guests and highlighted achievements and programmes of the foundation which was followed by a paper on life and works of Ghulam Rasool Gayoor by vice Chairman of the foundation Dr. Rattan Lal Talashi . Vijay Wali General Secretary of the Foundation conducted proceedings of the function.
A scholar Dr. Sanju kumar of Jammu University who has done his doctorate on the Gayoor’s poetry gifted his theses to the foundation and expressed his views on his poetry . Prof Shohaib Inayat Malik presented a citation for late G.R. Gayoor on behalf of Urdu Department Jammu University. The program included singing of Gayoor’s poetry by Rajesh Khar and Kousar Rashid .
In the function a Life Time Achievement Award was presented to eminent linguist and academician Prof. Pran Nath Trisal for his selfless and meritorious contribution towards art, culture and languages of Jammu & Kashmir. Dr Ayash Arif , a prominent Cultural Activist recited the citation for Prof . Trisal.
A poetic symposium dedicated to Ghulam Rasool Gayoor was also held on the occasion , in which galaxy of poets recited their poems , who amongst others included Kusum Dhar Sharda , Ab. Khaliq Shamas , Avtar Krishan Naaz , Nancy Chetna , Satish Safeer, Maqbool Ferozi, Fozia Mughal , Majeed Masroor , Santosh Nadan , Ashok Gowher , Rajinder Agosh , Aseer Kishtwari , Manshoor Banhali , Kirti Kapil and others.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. R.L. Hangloo praised the poetic contribution of Gayoor in both Urdu an Kashmiri languages , while as Prof. Shad Ramzan threw light on the subtle aspects of Gayoor’s poetry . Shohaib Inayat Malik highlighted the veracity of Gayoor’s poetry for further research and invited young minds to take up research on such poets. Syed Riyaz Khawar deliberated on the message of Unity and harmony evident in the poetry of Gayoor . The vote of thanks was presented by Kusum Dhar Sharda.
The participants also paid rich tributes to imminent Media wizard and literary personality Farooq Nazki, who breathed his last a few days ago, for his outstanding contribution towards art , culture and literature.(CNI) Current News of India
