liabilities.He maintained that an amnesty mechanism is necessary for consumers facing genuine financial difficulties, but cautioned that repeated extensions could potentially undermine the sense of fairness among consumers who have regularly paid their bills.The government, he said, is assessing the matter with due consideration to both the needs of defaulters seeking relief and the legitimate concerns of compliant consumers.
