Srinagar: CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami slammed the move to silence journalists’ voices and the arrest of Majid Hyderi under the Public Safety Act (PSA) on Wednesday.
Tarigami said that the government had used a carrot and stick strategy to stifle journalists who dared to speak truth to power.
Majid Hyderi, according to him, was just recently added to the list of journalists detained under the PSA. Tarigami described the occurrence as regrettable and asserted that calling a spade a spade or speaking truth to authority has turned into a criminal.
He claimed that the administration is using all forms of coercion to browbeat journalists into submission, underscoring the status quo of the Fourth Estate in Kashmir.
