Sep, 19, 2023 CNI News Pulwama: A groom skipped his wedding in the Kandizal region of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Locals who spoke to various media outlets expressed deep shock after the incident. Mohammed Shaban, a resident of Kandizal Awantipora has seven daughters. One of his daughters got married to one Fayaz Ahmed, but Fayaz did not come to Shaban’s home on the wedding day with Barat to pick up his wife.
Reports suggest that the couple’s Nikah was performed four years prior, and that Subhan’s family had planned for the groom’s reception.
One of the local residents giving inputs about the shocking incident said ” the groom was expected by the entire village, but he did not arrive until it was late at night. They did not answer the calls we made to them repeatedly. We had everything ready, including Wazwan and gold reserves for the bride and the husband. We were prepared for the Baraat and now we have to throw away all the food.”
Locals stated that this should not happen to any daughter or family. They said that Subhan and his family are undergoing mental stress after the incident.
People across social media platforms urged police to get involved and handle the situation. The Nikah papers and gold jewellery items were displayed by the family members while demanding justice for Subhan’s family.
The incident has not shocked the Subhan’s family only but Citizens and social workers are too shocked.
