Gunfight Starts in Shopian Village

Latest News Shopian, 12 April (CNI): A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces at the Chakoora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A police official told the News-agency Current News of India (CNI) that the gunfight was triggered after a joint team of the police, CRPF and Army cordoned off the Chakoora area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of militants.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot the hidden militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering off an encounter.

Meanwhile, Kashmir zone police also informed through a tweet that the Encounter has started at the Chakoora area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice. (CNI)
