In A World Of Hurt: Heavy Rains, Floods Continue to Strike Himachal Pradesh

Thirteen people have died in the last 24 hours in Himachal Pradesh as rain and floods continue that wreaked havoc in several parts in the state.

According to CNI, as per the information received from the State Disaster Management Officer, there have been 361 deaths in Himachal Pradesh since June 24. The rains have damaged roads, caused landslides and uprooted trees. Many houses have also collapsed.

Eight buildings collapsed in Kallu district on Thursday due to rain. No casualties were reported in the building collapse incident in Ani area. These were the buildings that had been cleared after suffering deep cracks.

According to the state disaster management officials, 40 people are missing and 342 injured while 9924 houses have been partially damaged in the state so far due to the onset of monsoon season.

On the other hand, NDRF team reached the spot and rescued 51 people trapped in Shahnoguni and Kholanala villages of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh after the cloud burst.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday claimed that the state has suffered a loss of around Rs 12,000 crore so far due to heavy rains.(CNI)
