Srinagar, 20 April (CNI) : India has overtaken China in terms of total population, became the first country in the world with a population of 142.86 crore.

As per the News agency-Current News of India (CNI) , India has overtaken China to become the most populatous country in the world. India has overtaken China to become the world’s most populous country with a population of 142.86 crore, according to UN data.

According to the United Nations World Population Dashboard, the population of China is 142.57 million, while the population of India has reached 142.86 million.

According to a new UNFPA report, 25 percent of India’s population is in the 0-14 age group, 18 percent in the 10-19 age group, 26 percent in the 10-24 age group, 68 percent, 15 to 64 years age group has a percentage, and above 65 years is 7 percent.

According to estimates by various agencies, India’s population will continue to grow for about three decades, before it reaches 165 crore and then starts to decline.(CNI)
