Srinagar, April 3, 2024- The leadership of the J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) raised a critical issue concerning the limited number of working days remaining in April and the upcoming celebration of Eid Ul Fitr in a press release.

According to a press release issued by the UT Spokesperson Mir Bashir Ahmad, the President of J&K EJAC, Mr. Wajahat Hussain Durrani, highlighted that the March salaries have been largely consumed by Income Tax payments, resulting in financial constraints for many employees. In light of these circumstances, the committee urges the government to consider releasing advance salary payments to alleviate the financial burden on employees.

Durrani emphasized the importance of timely salary disbursement, especially with Eid Ul Fitr fast approaching, stating, _”With only a few “working days” left in the April month and Eid Ul Fitr approaching, employees are in dire need of financial assistance. March salaries have been significantly impacted by tax payments, leaving many with empty pockets as they prepare for the festivities. Therefore, we call upon the government to release advance salaries to ensure that employees including Dailly wager, need base,Asha ,and other dailly rated, temporary , contractual workers can observe Eid Ul Fitr without financial strain. This payment ensures that employees have sufficient money to pay for the larger-than-usual expenses often incurred during Eid festival. We are not demanding any additional salary but keeping in consideration the huge curtailment in salary on account of Income Tax payments, we appeal for payment of Advance salary so that every employee celebrates Eid with happiness and all smiles.”_

Acknowledging the challenges faced by employees during this period, the J&K EJAC emphasizes the significance of meeting Eid festive requirements. The advance release of salaries would provide much-needed relief and allow employees to celebrate Eid Ul Fitr with peace of mind.

The committee extends its gratitude to the government for their ongoing support and urges prompt action to address this matter in the best interest of all stakeholders.CNI
