Strategic Plans for Smooth, Coordinated Operations to Maintain Peace in the Region

JAMMU, (CNI): Director General of Police RR Swain and General Officer Commanding (GOC) 16 Corps Lt Gen Naveen Sachdeva on Friday visited Poonch to review the security situation in the border district.

 

According to a statement issued to News Agency – Current News of India (CNI), he chaired a joint security review meeting in which ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, Go. Sea Romeo Force Major General Manish Gupta participated. and GOC 25 Division Major General Gaurav Rishi, DIGRP Range, Tejinder Singh, DC Poonch, Yasin Chaudhary, ASP Poonch, Mushim Ahmed and senior officers of intelligence agencies.

 

The statement said that during the review meeting, the officers reviewed the security situation in Poonch. “In view of the upcoming events, discussions were held to formulate strategies for smooth and coordinated operations and maintaining peace and security in the region”.

 

It said important discussions were held to unearth OGW modules, arrest them and intensify anti-terror operations besides strengthening coordination between the anti-infiltration grid and security forces.

 

“Special emphasis was also laid for smooth and peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha Elections 2024.”

 

It added that the DGP along with other senior officers also visited some forward areas on the LoC.

 

Later, the DGP chaired a meeting at DPO Poonch where ASP Poonch Mushim Ahmed gave a detailed presentation on the current security situation, law and order and election preparations.

 

“All the forces and agencies decided that since the people of Rajouri Poonch have generally always been against terrorism, few staunch OGWs who harbor and provide other support to terrorists should also be identified and dealt with strictly. Action should be taken, especially their property should be seized and confiscated.”

 

According to the statement, it was also decided that all those involved in drugs should be identified and no one should be spared, including the black sheep in the police, forces, agencies and other government departments, and strict action, especially confiscation of property, would be taken one day to be completed in two months.

 

The meeting was also attended by senior officers of Army, CRPF and GO of Poonch District Police.CNI
