Kashmir Once Again Becoming International Tourist Hub: Secretary Tourism

Secretary Tourism Syed Abid Rashid Shah has said that this year a large number of foreign tourists visited the Kashmir Valley. He said that Kashmir is once again emerging as an international tourist center.

According to CNI, last year was historic in terms of tourism arrivals in Jammu and Kashmir, Tourism Secretary Syed Abid Rasheed Shah said on Saturday that UT saw a significant increase in the number of tourist arrivals last year.

He said that the government is expecting a record-breaking number of tourists this year.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event “Jash-e-Adab-Cultural Caravan”, the tourism secretary said that tourism in Jammu and Kashmir is growing up on all fronts.

He said that we are moving ahead of the arrival of tourists this year. Syed Abid said that as the demand increases, the infrastructure will also be streamlined and new infrastructure will come accordingly.

He further said that there has been a huge increase in the arrival of foreign tourists in Jammu and Kashmir.

The G-20 Tourism Working Group meeting held in Srinagar is proving to be a game changer. The arrival of foreign tourists is increasing tremendously.

He said that the government is expecting a record breaking number of tourists this year. Shah said that the government has promoted 75 off-beat places and 75 places for religious tourism to promote culture in Jammu and Kashmir.

Currently, a team from the tourism department is on a visit to Ahmedabad to promote tourism in Jammu and Kashmir and the response is overwhelming. Earlier, we have organized tourism promotion campaigns in Kochinai as well.

To attract more international visitors, the government is considering participating in international trade marts soon, Shah said.

Asked whether the pro-artisan policy was ready, he said the policy would be prepared soon and the artisan community would be happy to see it.(CNI)
