Kashmiri Pandit Community Condemns National Conference’s Manifesto

The Kashmiri Pandit Community in general and Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), strongly condemns the National Conference’s (NC) manifesto, which betrays a blatant disregard for the sentiments and rights of the indigenous people of Kashmir. The NC’s attempt to call / rename Shankaracharya Hill as Takht-i-Sulaiman and Hari Parbat as Koh-e Maran is a brazen assault on our cultural heritage and identity.

This is not an isolated incident, as the NC has a history of changing Hindu names to Muslim ones, erasing our legacy and promoting a divisive agenda.

The recent renaming of our revered spiritual guru as Lalla Arifa and the attempts to call Anantnag as Islamabad and Srinagar as Shari Khass are egregious examples of the mindset of fundamentalist and separatist ideology of people in Kashmir valley.

The NC’s manifesto promises to repeal the PSA, release political prisoners, and others guarantees, but these guarantees ring hollow when they refuse to commit to the settlement of displaced Kashmiri Pandits at “ONE PLACE “in the valley, under the complete writ of the Indian Constitution. This is a gross betrayal of our trust and a slap in the face of our long-pending demands.

The ‘Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) rejects the NC’s manifesto in its entirety and demands that they withdraw their offensive proposals immediately. We will not stand idly by while our cultural identity is erased and our rights are trampled upon. The NC must understand that the Kashmiri Pandit community will never tolerate such affronts to our dignity and heritage.

We urge all right-thinking citizens of India, in particular of Jammu and Kashmir to join us in condemning the NC’s manifesto and demanding justice and equality for the Kashmiri Pandit community. Our struggle for survival and dignity will continue unabated, and we will not rest until our rights are recognized and respected.

“Jai Shri Shankaracharya! Jai Hari Parbat and Jai Kashyap Bhoomi”
