The Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) expresses its strongest resentment and condemnation of the recent assault on members of the Kashmiri Pandit community in Bandipora. As per the statement of Usman Majid Wani, former Planning Minister and MLA, Kashmiri Pandits were subjected to threats, intimidation, and physical abuse by Congress workers, including Ghulam Nabi Tantray, an aide to the Congress candidate Nizamuddin Bhat. This heinous act occurred simply because these peace-loving members of our community refused to be coerced into voting for a particular candidate.

Kundan Kashmiri, President KPC & senior leader of Kashmiri Pandit community stated that such violent, illegal, and undemocratic tactics are unacceptable in any civilized society. The Kashmiri Pandit community, already victims of decades of displacement and suffering, should never be subjected to such humiliation and abuse. This incident is not only a blatant violation of the basic democratic rights of the Kashmiri Pandits but also an assault on communal harmony and the dignity of a community that has already endured immense hardship.

The President KPC demands immediate intervention from the police authorities and a thorough investigation into the matter. We call upon the Election Commissioner of India to take serious action against those responsible for this shameful act, ensuring that the integrity of the electoral process is maintained and that no community, including the Kashmiri Pandits, is targeted or forced to vote under duress.

Kundan Kashmiri stated that we stand firm in solidarity with our community and reaffirm that such acts of violence and intimidation will never break our resolve. The Kashmiri Pandits have always contributed to the rich cultural and social fabric of Jammu and Kashmir and deserve respect and protection, not persecution.

The KPC urges the authorities to provide adequate security to Kashmiri Pandits residing in Kashmir valley or elsewhere inv5he country. We will not tolerate any further attempts to exploit or harm our community.
