The Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), under the leadership of its President Kundan Kashmiri, expresses deep anguish over the continued neglect of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community and urges the Government of India to take immediate and decisive action to address the pressing issues threatening the dignity, survival, and future of this victimized community.

In a meeting at New Delhi today President Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC ) Kundan Kashmiri said that for the last 35 years, Kashmiri Pandits, the original inhabitants of Kashmir, have remained in exile, suffering immense socio-economic and psychological distress. The government’s promises of rehabilitation and empowerment have largely remained unfulfilled, leaving thousands of families in financial insecurity, unemployment, and despair. The Kashmiri Pandit community has shown remarkable resilience and patriotism despite the trauma of displacement, but continued apathy from policymakers has pushed them to the brink.

He stated that the plight of the PM package employees serving in Kashmir remains alarming. They continue to face serious security threats and are forced to live in substandard, unsafe accommodations. The recent cracks in the newly constructed quarters in Baramulla following a minor earthquake highlight the poor quality of infrastructure. These employees, who returned to serve the nation despite the dangers, deserve immediate intervention, proper security, and livable housing conditions. The government must ensure that they are not left vulnerable to threats and hardships.

The crisis of overage displaced youth remains unresolved. Having crossed the employment age limit due to prolonged exile and lack of opportunities, thousands of young Kashmiri Pandits find themselves without a future. The government must announce a one-time special employment package for them in Central Government Departments, PSUs, and financial institutions, enabling them to secure dignified livelihoods.

The monthly relief amount for displaced Kashmiri Pandits, currently at a meager Rs. 3,250 per person, is grossly inadequate to meet even basic living expenses and demands an immediate increase to at least Rs. 5,000 per person per month, along with direct financial assistance to displaced families to address their ongoing hardships.

Kundan Kashmiri senior leader of KP community further stated ,to ensure economic stability and a sense of security, the government must create exclusive job reservations for displaced Kashmiri Pandits in Central Government Ministries, Departments, and PSUs. A policy-driven approach to employment for the community is crucial to restoring their dignity and integrating them into the mainstream economy.

Decades of exile have resulted in immense financial, educational, and property losses for Kashmiri Pandits. A structured financial compensation package is necessary to address these accumulated losses, ensuring justice for a community that has suffered irreparable damage. The government must also introduce educational scholarships, financial aid, and business incentives to help displaced families rebuild their lives and secure a stable future for their children.

He further said that it is deeply unjust that Kashmiri Pandits residing in Delhi-NCR and other non-camp locations continue to face delays in the disbursement of relief payments. KPC urges the government to release all pending relief immediately and ensure that future payments are streamlined and timely, eliminating unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles.

KPC strongly appeals to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take urgent and concrete steps to address these existential issues. The continued neglect and delay in addressing the community’s rightful demands are fostering deep frustration and alienation.

KPC Chief Said that the Kashmiri Pandit community has always been a nationalist, law-abiding, and peace-loving segment of Indian society, yet it continues to face injustice and apathy.and thier burning issues are not addressed with sincerity and urgency, .

KPC calls upon all community members, social activists, and political stakeholders to unite in demanding justice. The suffering of Kashmiri Pandits must end. It is time for decisive action, for dignity, and for rightful rehabilitation.
